Overview
Volkswagen's T5 Transporter range is vast and varied, embracing dual cab cab-chassis, short and long-wheelbase, high and low-roof van configurations, Caravelle and Multivan, as well as numerous engine, transmission and driveline choices. Three new 2.0-litre turbo diesel engines produce 75kW, 103kW and 132kW respectively and transmission options include five and six-speed manuals, as well as a seven-speed DSG. Then there's the availability of VW's 4Motion all-wheel drive system. The safety equipment embraces features such as ABS, stability control and airbags - mostly optional dependent on the model, and owner requirements.
