F48 sDrive18i Wagon 5dr D-CT 7sp 550kg 1.5T BMW's entry X1 SUV is based on a front-drive/all-wheel drive platform shared with sister brand MINI. It is generous inside, with the comfortable seating you'd expect, and has a big 505-litre boot that expands to 1550 litres when all seats are folded. There are two 2.0-litre engines " a 110kW/330Nm turbo-diesel in the base sDrive 18d and, in the xDrive20i and sDrive20i versions, a 170kW/350Nm turbo-petrol, plus a new 100kW/220Nm three-cylinder 1.5-litre front-drive sDrive18i. All use an eight-speed auto transmission with either FWD (sDrive) or AWD (xDrive). Autonomous emergency braking, lane-departure warning, self-parking capability, SatNav, cruise control (with braked speed control) and climate-control are universally standard.
