Pennzoil has released a new video entitled JOYRIDE, to promote presumably its oil, that involves a yellow Ferrari 488 GTB being driven flat out on the Barcelona-Catalunya race circuit before leaving to tackle the streets of the Spanish capital.
In the video, that feature gratuitous drifting, the 458-replacement is also seen spitting fire and generally sound every-inch the Ferrari supercar despite its controversial switch to a new twin-turbocharged 3.9-litre V8 that was worried would sound flat and dull the throttle responses after the screaming 4.5-litre V8 from the 458 Italia and Speciale.
What isn’t disputed is the performance offered by the new V8TT is the performance from the new turbo V8 that delivers 492kW/760Nm.
Taking just 3.0 seconds to reach 100km/h the 488 GTB reaches 200km/h in 8.3 seconds - that’s faster than an Aventador SV.
Top speed, meanwhile is 330km/h.
Priced at $469,888 (plus on-road costs) for the 488 GTB, or around $530,000 for the 488 Spider, there’s already a two-year waiting list for the most affordable sportscar in the Ferrari line-up - not that Australian buyers stop there.
On average, most Australian buyers add a further $65,000 to the list price of their 488 by adding personal touches to their cars like carbon-fibre steering wheels or the traditional Scuderia shields on the front wings.
