Volkswagen has sneaked through engineroom changes to its V6 turbodiesel Touareg. And the good news is the German brand plans to deliver more oomph, at no extra cost.
Effective from November production, the Touareg TDI V6 (more here) gets a noteworthy power and torque increase. Previously boasting outputs of 165kW and 500Nm respectively, the 3.0-litre direct-injected turbodiesel powerplant will now pump out 176kW and 550Nm.
Volkswagen Australia General Manager Press and PR, Jon Dawe, told the Carsales Network: "The change is effective from Week 45 production -- which translates to vehicles built after November 5.
"We will be rolling the update into our model supply -- there are no other specification changes and the price for the TDI V6 is unchanged. The TDI V6 starts from $74,990 --identical pricing to our petrol model," Dawe said.
Dawe said VW Australia had yet to receive revised fuel figures for the updated model.
In practice, while the power and torque increase will require the carmaker to review its claimed ADR81 fuel consumption, it is unlikely there will be any significant change. The current claimed combined figure for the big VeeDub is 10.7lt/100km with a corresponding carbon dioxide output of 283g/km.
