Volkswagen is setting up its second-generation Touareg SUV for a facelift that is expected to arrive on Euro markets towards the end of 2014.
These Automedia spy pics aren’t able to provide us with much visual information on exactly what the refresh will comprise, although it seems clear there will be the usual changes to the front apron and, more interestingly, a possible redesign of the hatchback lid that could see it extending lower down into the bumper area.
Of course it is possible Volkswagen has added a bit of deceptive cladding to make it look this way, but the apparent bumper shut line in the spy pix goes much deeper than the current Touareg's, maybe to make loading into the cargo area a little easier. But let’s not get too excited at this stage.
Automedia also suggests that Touareg drivelines may be in for a bit of a fiddle too. There are rumours that the current 3.0-litre V6 TDI will have its power bumped from 180kW to around 194kW and that the less powerful version of the TDI V6 will be replaced by a four-cylinder engine of as-yet unknown capacity and output.
Automedia says the focus will be on new driver assistance systems and updated infotainment.
Keep tuned for further updates on progress of the Touareg update.
