Almost half-way through its seven year life-cycle, the Mitsubishi Outlander is just about due for its mid-life facelift and these latest spy photos confirm the Japanese car-maker is almost ready let the cat out of the bag.
There's heavy camouflage on the vehicle in question, particularly over the front and rear of the vehicle, evidence that Mitsubishi has redesigned these areas while leaving the roof, bonnet, doors and much of the body untouched.

According to the spy photographers at Automedia we can expect a new-look front end with revised headlights and subtle changes to the grille and front bumper. The rear end is also likely to see updated visuals via new brake lights and rear bumper sculpting.
It's not clear if the new design will be a radical departure from the current look, which is fairly conservative, but it's entirely possible given that Mitsubishi showed off its aggressive (and seemingly production ready) Outlander Concept S at the 2014 Paris motor show in October.
The Mitsubishi Outlander is currently offered in Australia with three different engine types priced between $27,740 and $52,490. It's not clear whether Mitsubishi plans to tweak the powerplants on offer for the mid-life update, whether in terms of efficiency or power outputs.
The current models offered in Australia include the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (110kW/190Nm), the 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (124kW/220Nm) and the 2.0-litre petrol-electric plug-in hybrid, or PHEV, which squeezes out 87kW/186Nm but uses fuel at a rate of just 1.9L/100km on the ADR combined cycle.
If Mitsubishi did employ the aggressive new design of the Outlander Concept S (pictured), it's possible the company may see a need to offer a higher output version.
The new model could make its public debut as early as March 2015 at the Geneva motor show in Switzerland.
