This time the issue is associated with an electric water pump that may stop working. In that event, according to the recall notice, various warning lights in the instrument panel would illuminate and the vehicle would enter 'limp-home' or 'fail-safe' mode. Information to hand indicates an electric power supply circuit fuse "may open" while the vehicle is being driven. In the 'limp-home' mode, the car would remain driveable, but with engine power reduced.
Vehicles affected were sold between August 1, 2003 and March 30, 2009. Toyota asks that owners notified by mail contact the nearest Toyota dealer to have the fault assessed and, if found, rectified.
