Picture this: Vision for Citroen's C4 Picasso

Full-length sunroof and satnav just two of the features in Citroen's limited edition C4 Picasso 'Vision'
Citroen has announced a new value pack for the C4 Picasso to reignite buyer interest in the seven-seater.
The C4 Picasso Vision is priced at $38,990 – including on-road costs – with additional equipment fitted comprising RT6 satellite navigation, a full-length glass sunroof, opening rear window in the tailgate and powered fold-in mirrors. The navigation system incorporates infotainment facilities including Bluetooth connectivity and the mirrors automatically dip when reverse gear is selected.
“This package contains the options for which we get the most requests,” explained Miles Williams, General Manager of Citroen, in a statement issued today. “So we have put them together in one package and that means we can deliver them at a very special price, amounting to an added value of up to $4500 for just an extra $1000.”
The Vision package is the latest in a line of incentives offered by current Citroen distributor, Ateco Automotive to move the C4 Picasso out of the showrooms. In the past, the distributor has offered free fuel and low interest finance incentives, as well as adjusting the price of the car downwards. But the highest sales figure the Picasso has ever achieved was 300 units. That was back in 2007 – the year the C4 Picasso was launched into the local market.
For the year so far, according to VFACTS, the C4 Picasso has sold 123 units – over a hundred fewer than for the same period in 2011. But there's a new model in the works and that may help lift sales in 2013, although it wasn't present at the Paris motor show as anticipated. That may be a consequence of PSA Peugeot Citroen's current financial state
Citroen's difficulty achieving strong, consistent sales in Australia for the C4 Picasso is not helped any by the fact the whole VFACTS people mover segment is in gradual decline. The segment for vehicles priced below $55,000 sold 9936 vehicles last year, which is roughly a third less than the figure of 15,089 in 2007, when the Picasso was introduced.
Beyond January of next year, marketing the C4 Picasso locally becomes a task for new Citroen distributor, Sime Darby – already the local distributor of Citroen's parent company, Peugeot. And in a case of brand role reversal, Ateco has acquired the rights to distribute Korean brand SsangYong – currently handled by Sime Darby.
