Land Rover Defender SVX marks 60th anniversary
Only 82 Australian buyers will take delivery of the Defender SVX, a limited edition of Land Rover's offroad archetypeLand Rover has commemorated its 60th anniversary this year. Newly acquired by Indian industrial conglomerate Tata -- along with another iconic British marque, Jaguar -- Land Rover appears set to notch up another 60 years, although for the time being at least, the company is a little distracted by past glories.
The Defender SVX is a limited production run model based on the standard Defender and styled to resemble the original Series I Land Rover of 1948. It does, however, boast a number of 2008 features such as satellite navigation, Recaro seats, leather-bound steering wheel and iPod compatibility.
Land Rover has equipped each of the 1800 units (with just 82 allocated for the Australian market) with a build plaque, decals, five-spoke alloy wheels, tubular side steps, reinforced front 'undershield', sunroof, heated seats, aluminium gear knob and a premium audio system. Land Rover will sell the Defender SVX for a price of $63,320.
