Jaguar has revealed a new long-wheelbase version of its XE sedan at the Guangzhou motor show.
Created specifically for Chinese buyers, the longer XEL sedan will rival the lengthened Audi A4L, BMW 3 Series Li and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class that is already on sale in the region.
Featuring a wheelbase that's 100mm longer than the standard XE's, liberating significantly more rear legroom, the XEL will offer rear occupants the choice of optional massage seats that come with four-way lumbar adjustment.
For added privacy, there are also rear window blinds.
Under the bonnet, the XEL is offered with just one engine – a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium powertrain that comes with either 147kW or 184kW.
Built at Chery Jaguar Land Rover's Changshu plant in eastern China, the new XEL will be assembled alongside the Range Rover Evoque, Land Rover Discovery SUV and the Jag XFL sedan.
At the Chinese show, Jaguar announced that it currently had no plans to offer the long-wheelbase XE to any markets outside of China.
