Drawing plenty of inspiration from the latest Mk8 Volkswagen Golf, the design sketch suggests the face of the 2021 Volkswagen Polo will feature a new LED daylight running lamp that will stretch from fender to fender.
Already spotted testing, Volkswagen has yet to officially reveal how exactly it's updated the popular small hatchback, but when it's unwrapped in a few days’ time expect it to adopt the Mk8 Golf's digital instrument cluster and latest infotainment system.
Under the bonnet, stricter CO2 legislation in Europe suggests the baby VW might adopt the car-maker's 12-volt and 48-volt mild-hybrid technology.
If so, flagship versions should be powered by a 48-volt mild-hybrid eTSI 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol with varying outputs.
First introduced back in 1975, Volkswagen has sold more than 18 million examples of the Polo globally.
However, with the move to pure-electric powertrains for small vehicles, the famous nameplate could be parked forever after this update, potentially replaced by a small ID model.
