The interior of the Ferrari Luce – the Italian supercar-maker’s first electric vehicle (EV) – has been shown for the first time, with teaser shots revealing its cockpit, steering wheel and host of tactile, mechanical buttons.

Machined aluminium and precision-milled glass are just some of the materials set to adorn the cabin of Ferrari’s first EV, which has officially been named Luce (Italian for “light”).
Revealed in San Francisco, the interior appears to blend old-school Ferrari tactility with new-age digital tech, with the Italian brand saying every button has been developed to provide the most “harmonious combination of mechanical and acoustic feedback”.
Unlike more recent models such as the Purosangue EV and 12Cilindri grand tourer, it looks like the Luce will forgo several displays, which even include one ahead of the front passenger, focusing instead on aircraft-inspired machined buttons, dials and toggles.

The driver’s instrument panel – mounted directly to the steering column – is designed to appear analogue but features overlapping digital dials with sharp OLED displays designed in collaboration with Samsung.
The only other screen – aside from a small climate control display for rear passengers – appears to be a central display up front, mounted on a ball-and-socket joint, allowing it to be oriented towards the driver or passenger.
Meantime, the steering wheel – claimed to weigh 400g less than a standard Ferrari tiller – is the brand’s modern take on its three-spoke wheels of 1950s and 60s, made from 100 per cent recycled aluminium.
The gear selector is made of a special glass designed to resist scratches.
Luce will also come with a glass key (don’t worry, it’s also scratch resistant) which features an E Ink display – thought to be its first application in auto – that changes from yellow to black once inserted into the centre console, which enables the control panel and instrument cluster to simultaneously light up.

Details of Ferrari’s electric quad-motor powertrain were revealed last October, with cutting-edge tech set to launch the EV from 0-100km/h in just 2.5 seconds, along with active suspension borrowed from the F80 hypercar.
The Luce is expected to make its global debut in Italy this May.
