With the M6 approaching middle age, BMW has just unveiled a new 'competition package' for the V10-powered coupe and it's designed to bring enhanced dynamics and greater visual impact.
The new package features a revised suspension configuration comprising a 12mm lower front end and 10mm lower rear, retuned Dynamic Stability Control and ABS settings, and a modified Variable M differential for greater cornering capability.
Visually, a competition package-equipped M6 Coupe is distinguishable by a new bonnet with 'precision lines' for a more aggressive look, and there's also a set of wider M double-spoke light alloy wheels, shod with new Pirelli P Zero Corsa System tyres.
Meanwhile, non-M derivatives of the 6 Series Coupe and Convertible are also available with a similar Edition Sport package, which includes a bespoke bonnet, unique 19-inch alloys and M anti-roll stabilisation system for improved handling.
The suspension upgrades includes stiffer anti-roll bars for a 10 per cent firmer front axle and a 30 per cent firmer rear axle rear. This results in improved handling and a more composed ride during enthusiastic driving, claims BMW.
Building on this specification, the 650i Edition Sport Coupes and Convertibles also come with a sports exhaust that, according to BMW, emits a sportier note and allows the engine to breathe better.
A brushed aluminium interior, extended lighting and the option of specifying one of seven colours, of which Imola Red and Carbon Black are new to the 6 Series range, completes the package.
Slightly lower down the pecking order, BMW has announced that the M3 sedan has been updated to incorporate the same cosmetic tweaks to the rear end as the rest of the 3 Series line-up.
A new light cluster with integrated LED indicators features alongside changes in the profile of the boot lid and the rear valance.
Inside, the revised M3 sedan features a slight redesign of the centre console and the introduction of pearlescent chrome switchgear for "an additional tier of refinement".
