The BMW 5 Series for the new model year has been lightly updated, with the manufacturer's Live Cockpit Professional system rolled out across the range as standard.
That's the most significant change to BMW's large, luxury sedan and wagon range, with some price adjustments accompanying the new model year enhancements. Other features now added to the standard equipment list include Connected Package Professional – a subscription service that includes Apple CarPlay for 12 months – plus 4G-compatible internet connectivity and wireless charging for portable devices.

BMW has dropped the CD player and illuminated door sill scuff plates. The Multifunction Instrument Display, which was formerly standard equipment in all variants except the 520d and 520i, has been swapped out with the introduction of Live Cockpit Professional.
In a series of lesser changes, all variants migrate from USB Type A ports in the centre console to USB Type C, and Type C ports also replace the 12-Volt outlets in the rear of the console. The multi-function steering wheel buttons have been restyled and fuel economy figures for the 520i and 540i are improved (without change to engine output).
BMW has dropped the 'iPerformance' and 'eDrive' badging for the 530e, which gains black radiator grille slats and wheel hub rings – both formerly blue.
