Nissan may have little in the way of surprises in store for the stock-model 2013 370Z coupe, but that doesn’t mean there’s not some Z coupe skulduggery going on in the company’s backrooms.
Witness this turbocharged factory-developed car dubbed Project 370Z that ups power, further sharpens the handling and adds grunt to the braking system without advertising it via dramatic body kit aesthetics.
According to reports the worked-over, one-off Project 370Z uses a Geddy turbocharger to up power from 245kW to 370kW-plus, along with a KW coil-over suspension and big brakes to tame it.
The very special 370Z is also said to have a reworked interior with Recaro seats, different instruments, a new steering wheel and shift lever as well as new trim on the door panels.
The big interest of course is what the additional kilowatts (and torque) will do for the Nissan’s point to point ability. As well as the tauter suspension and bigger brakes, extra grip provided by the 19-inch runner wrapped around Volk alloy wheels should help.
Nissan says it has no plans for the special 370Z as a showroom proposition, but who knows . . .
