2019 Lexus ES leaked ahead of reveal
Lexus’ luxury sedan outed before official Beijing revealThe 2019 Lexus ES sedan has been spotted ahead of its official debut at this month’s Beijing motor show.
Sporting a sharper appearance that aligns it with newer Lexus models, notably the larger LS, the ES receives a more aggressive version of the marque’s trademark ‘spindle’ grille along with more pronounced LED headlights and new vertical bars in the grille.
This image, courtesy of enthusiast site Almuraba, loosely previews the ES ahead of a likely late 2018 Australian arrival, where it will take on the revamped Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5-Series, Audi A6, Jaguar XF and Volvo S90.
Outside of aesthetic upgrades, the ES is said to feature wholesale changes under the skin. It adopts the new Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) that also underpins a host of other Toyota and Lexus product, including the Camry.
The TNGA platform will afford the ES access to new safety systems over and above the current model including pre-collision warning with pedestrian detection and lane departure warning with steer assist, among others.
Under the bonnet, the ES is set to be available with a choice of an entry-level V6 or an optional hybrid powertrain.
