New Bentley Flying Spur teased again

Third-generation British luxury limo set to be launched later this year; next Bentley Flying Spur to offer 3D textured leather upholstery

The all-new Bentley Flying Spur has been teased again ahead of its launch this July at a VIP event to commemorate 100 years of car-making by the British luxury brand.

Already teased by a shadowy silhouette of the five-metre-long luxury limousine and an updated version of the brand's 'flying B' bonnet mastiff, the next Bentley Flying Spur's latest preview involves a first glimpse of its unusual 3D textured leather upholstery.

The three-dimensional leather, said to be an automotive world-first in interior design, is claimed to be just one of the new advanced interior features developed in-house for the third-generation Bentley Flying Spur.

The diamond-pattern quilted leather is shown on the all-new Bentley Flying Spur's door cards, which also feature solid split-wood door tops, chrome door releases and contrasting grey leather door pulls.

All-new from the ground up, the 2019 Bentley Flying Spur switches to the latest Volkswagen Group MSB architecture that currently underpins the current Continental GT coupe and the Porsche Panamera.

That should ensure the next Flying Spur will be transformed in the driving department, with the new platform supporting 48-volt mild-hybrid electrification that enables active anti-roll bars and Bentley’s Dynamic Ride suspension.

Set to be unveiled later this year and launched shortly afterwards, the new Flying Spur will initially be offered with Bentley's mighty 6.0-litre twin-turbo petrol W12, which generates no less than 473kW and 900Nm in the Continental GT.

Later on, a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 will arrive, producing 404kW and 770Nm, plus a plug-in hybrid powertrain that’s set to combine a turbocharged V6 and two electric motors.

A diesel is not expected.

It’s not known if the British limo will employ the coupe’s eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (more likely it will come with a traditional automatic gearbox) but all versions will come with all-wheel drive.
