What it is Like to Drive
If you haven't driven the new e:HEV system, it is fantastic. It drives primarily like an electric vehicle, using the petrol engine as a generator. Acceleration from a stop is instant, completely smooth, and there are no clunky gear shifts.
It can run on standard 91 unleaded or E10.
The RS chassis handles beautifully. It feels tight and planted on the road without being harsh, and the cabin is incredibly quiet thanks to acoustic glass and active noise cancellation. It feels much closer to a European luxury sedan than a standard daily commuter.
Why I Chose This Over a Toyota Camry
Before buying, I looked closely at the Camry Hybrid but found the Accord RS to be a clear step up in quality and everyday usability:
* Running Costs: The Accord runs on regular 91 or E10 fuel, whereas the top-spec Camry requires premium 95 RON.
* Refinement: Honda uses stepped faux-gear ratios under heavy acceleration, meaning you don't get that loud, continuous engine drone common in traditional CVTs.
* Better Tech & Sound: It features built-in Google Automotive (Google Maps is integrated directly into the driver's dash display) and a premium 12-Speaker Bose sound system that sounds incredible.
* Space & Looks: The boot is noticeably larger (570L vs 524L), and the styling looks sharp and distinctive on the road, rather than looking like a standard rideshare vehicle.
