MY24 Essence Wagon 5dr Auto 6sp 1.3T MG's small SUV, the ZS, rules the market segment that includes Hyundai Kona, Mazda CX-30 and the also-Chinese Haval Jolion. There are three ZSs - the single-model base version, the ZST and the ZS EV. While the base ZS employs a normally aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine driving the front wheels through a four-speed auto transmission the pricier ZST is available in four variants with either a CVT-transmission 84kW/150Nm aspirated 1.5-litre engine or a six-speed auto 115kW/230Nm 1.3-litre three-cylinder turbo. Like the regular MG ZS, the ZST has only four safety stars but does include comprehensive technology such as AEB, pedestrian avoidance, cross-traffic alert front and rear and lane-keep assist.
