AP32 MY24 Essence Sedan 4dr SA DCT 7sp 1.5T A competitor for Hyundai i30, Toyota Corolla, Mazda3 and Kia Cerato, the MG5 small sedan is significantly cheaper than its direct rivals. Offering the choice of naturally-aspirated or turbocharged 1.5-litre engines, powered respectively by CVT and seven-speed dual-clutch transmissions, the MG5 comes in Vibe and Essence versions. Standard equipment includes 10-inch colour touch-screen infotainment with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, the top-shelf Essence adding six-speaker (instead of four) audio, faux-leather steering wheel trim, a "foldback" sunroof and a 360-degree parking camera. A major MG5 deficit is its zero star-rating in ANCAP testing, which should be addressed, at least partly, by a safety upgrade due this year.
