Powered by a thrifty 66kW/120Nm 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine driving the front wheels through a CVT transmission, it is more a mini hatchback than an SUV. The appealingly chunky Suzuki is available in GL and GLX model grades, both standard with sat-nav, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, voice control, cruise control and roof rails. The pricier GLX gets bigger, 16-inch alloy wheels, climate-control and push-button starting. Though the boot only measures 264 litres, the Ignis will carry four adult passengers with surprising comfort. Although it scores well for active safety, the Ignis misses out on the latest electronic safety aids.
