With competitors Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5 and Nissan X-Trail, the HS range offers base Vibe, mid-spec Excite, Essence, Core, top-spec Anfield and a plug-hybrid. Power in non-hybrids comes from a 119kW/250Nm 1.5-litre turbo four driving the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox while the hybrid adds a 90kW/230Nm electric motor to punch out a combined output of 189kW/370Nm through 10 electronically-controlled gear ratios. The fully-electric range is claimed at 52km and a complete home-charge takes about five hours. MG claims up to 1.7L/100km fuel economy.
