The Alpina B3 sedan and Touring wagon, for example, are based on xDrive AWD versions of BMW's new 3 Series, reworked to create a mix of attitude and gentility. BMW's 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline six-cylinder is tweaked to produce 340kW with a massive 700Nm of torque and identification comes not just from the badges, but also such things as 19-inch wheels and quad exhaust outlets. Inside, there's a Lavalina leather steering wheel, with contrasting piano-black interior highlights peppered throughout the cabin.
