NE MY20 RS 245 Wagon 5dr DSG 7sp 2.0T Fitting somewhere between Volkswagen's Golf and Passat models, the Skoda Octavia hatch and wagon owe virtually everything to the German car-maker yet manage to find their own personality. They're safe, dynamic, well-built and surprisingly friendly to passengers and luggage. Two powerplants are offered: the 110kW/250Nm 110 TSI 1.4-litre turbo and the 180kW/370Nm 180 TSI 2.0-litre turbo that powers the punchy hatch and wagon RS models. Base Octavias use a six-speed manual, while a seven-speed DSG gearbox is used elsewhere. Helping the five-star ANCAP safety rating are universally-standard high and low-speed autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, driver attention detection and a rear-view camera.
