Available as a front-driver, or with AWD, the handily spacious, meticulously presented CX-8 differs from the slightly larger CX-9 in that it's exclusively diesel-powered, using the same 140kW/450Nm 2.2-litre four-cylinder seen in the Mazda6 sedan/wagon. The CX-8 range includes Sport and Asaki variants, in auto-transmission form only. A full suite of safety technology includes autonomous emergency braking in forward and reverse (high and low-speed in the former), blind-spot sensors, pedestrian avoidance, lane-departure warning with active steering assistance and rear cross-traffic alert.
