The 2019 Aston Martin DB11 V8 is arguably the smartest way to spend six figures on a grand tourer. While the V12 gets the 'AMR' badges and the bragging rights, the V8 is widely considered the better car for people who actually enjoy driving.
The 4.0L twin-turbo V8 is sourced from Mercedes-AMG, which is great news for reliability and torque. However, Aston didn't just 'drop it in.' They changed the air intake, the exhaust, and the slimline wet-sump lubrication system to ensure it sounds and feels like an Aston. It delivers 375kW and 675Nm, hitting 0?100km/h in a blistering 4.0 seconds.
The V8 is 115kg lighter than the V12, and almost all that weight was removed from the nose.
The Result, The car is significantly more 'pointy.' It dives into corners with an eagerness the V12 lacks and with a 49/51 weight distribution, it feels balanced and playful rather than just heavy and fast.
