F80 LCI Competition Sedan 4dr M-DCT 7sp 3.0TT BMW really started something with the first M3 back in 1985 Here was a small, rear-drive car that could take on some highly respected, dedicated sports cars. Although there have been some aberrations along the way, including a V8 version, then a return to six cylinders in 2014, the M3 has always been a car to engender respect. Although it first came as a four-cylinder coupe in Europe in 1985, Australia didn't see it until the 210kW/320Nm 3.0-litre six-cylinder coupe in 1994. Today it's a rousing 331kW/550Nm 3.0-litre turbo six sedan or (M4) coupe with six-speed manual or seven-speed auto transmission.
