ND Roadster GT 2dr SKYACTIV-Drive 6sp 2.0i Mazda has shown remarkable restraint with its MX-5. In 26 years, it has got neither heavier nor bigger, or really even more powerful. The light, tight sportster is a pure distillation of the elements that make up a real driver's car, in which no element overrides another. The (just over) one-tonne convertible is available with two SKYACTIV engines: a 96kW/150Nm 1.5-litre, or a more powerful 118kW/200Nm 2.0-litre, both offering the choice of six-speed manual or auto transmissions. The base Roadster is comprehensively fitted out, but the GT version offers things like heated leather seats, climate-control, Bose audio and sat-nav.
