This is not your average BMW M235i — and it shouldn’t be compared to one.
This is, without question, THE nicest BMW M235i convertible for sale in Australia, and I challenge anyone to find better value in this price range.
For under $30,000, you’re getting a 6-cylinder 3.0L turbocharged engine producing 240kW, 0–100 km/h in under 5 seconds, and a convertible that still looks and feels like a current-model car. On top of that, it has a long list of tasteful upgrades you simply won’t find on other M235i listings on Carsales.
I’m selling only because I’m moving overseas.
This car really stands out wherever it goes. Upgrades include front and rear spoilers, rear diffuser, side skirts, chrome delete, and a beautiful Alcantara interior. However, the feature that gets the most attention is the upgraded rear taillights, designed to resemble the 2025 M2 tail lights. They completely transform the look of the car, taking it from a standard 2016 M235i to a modern, M2-inspired head-turner. This is what receives the most compliments and questions — people constantly ask what model it is and where they can get one.
The original factory taillights are also included with the sale, and I’m happy to have them professionally refitted if you prefer (although I doubt you’ll want to once you see these in person).
Both front and rear brakes have been recently replaced. The car is mechanically A+, sounds fantastic while remaining refined and not over the top, and is an absolute joy to drive. Whether you’re cruising with the roof down enjoying the Harman Kardon sound system, or pushing through winding national park roads, this car does it all.

Overview
Based on the 1 Series five-door hatch, the 2 Series convertible is the most affordable soft-top BMW. With seating for four and a quick-folding fabric roof, the front-engine, rear-drive convertible brings the open-air BMW experience down to a more affordable level. All models have self-parking automated steering, lane departure warning, rear-view camera and "Collision Mitigation" low-speed crash avoiding technology. Powerplants include two 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbos producing 141kW/280Nm in base 220i form, and 180kW/350Nm as a 228i. Top gun is the 3.0-litre six-cylinder M235i turbo with 240kW/450Nm. Transmission choices, depending on model, include a six-speed manual and BMW's efficient eight-speed automatic.
