The Megane five-door hatchback became Renault's best seller locally with higher levels of standard equipment and a line-up that now starts in the low $20Ks. The 1.2-litre (turbo) and 2.0-litre petrol engines, driving either a six-speed manual or CVT, have been joined by a frugal turbodiesel and it's dual clutch automated six-speed. The variants now start out with the Expression, through the Dynamique, GT-Line and Privilege. Much requested improvements to the audio interface have been handed down from the RS 265. Added safety features for the high-end models include lane departure warning and auto dipping headlights.
