The 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL 63 AMG was that it redefined what a full-size seven-seat SUV could be by combining genuine AMG performance with luxury family practicality. At the time, it was one of the most powerful and fastest large SUVs on the market, powered by AMG's handcrafted 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 producing immense performance while still offering three rows of seating and long-distance comfort. Despite weighing well over 2.5 tonnes, the GL 63 AMG could sprint from 0-100km/h in around 4.9 seconds, sports car territory for a vehicle of its size.
The GL 63 AMG featured AMG's adaptive air suspension and active cornering technology, allowing the large SUV to remain surprisingly flat and composed through corners.
