Presented in four-door hatchback form the newly introduced B series rides and handles in the expected M-B manner. The 90kW/200Nm 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol starts out the range in the B180, followed by a 115kW/250Nm version of the same motor for the B200, a 100kW/300Nm1.8-litre turbodiesel in the B200 CDI and a 155kW/350Nm 2.0-litre petrol turbo in the B250. All share the 7G-TRONIC seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, driving run flat tyres from the front. Drive selection is by steering wheel mounted stalk and paddles. Safety jumps another level, with all manner of assistance and equipment filtering down from its larger siblings.
