Presented in four-door hatch form here the newly introduced B series rides and handles in the expected M-B manner. The 90/kW/200Nm 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol starts out the range in the B180, followed by a 11kkW/250Nm version of the same motor for the B200 and topped out with a 100kW/300Nm1.8-litre turbodiesel in the B200 CDI. All share the 7G-TRONIC seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, driving run flat tyres from the front. Drive selection is by steering wheel mounted stalk and paddles. Safety goes to another level, with all manner of assistance and equipment filtering down from its larger siblings.
