Overview
In SE form, the Freelander 2 comes with three engine configurations "two diesels, the TD4 and SD4 (which adds an extra 30kW, but torque and economy figures are quoted as the same) and the 177kW/340Nm, 9.6L/100km, 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol replacing the thirstier, less powerful 3.2-litre six. They're all mated to the Sports Automatic transmission. The diesels can operate on ten-percent bio-diesel and have been modified to reduce engine noise, vibration and harshness. Other exterior and interior upgrades are intended to impart an up-market feel to the vehicle, in an attempt to position it above its Asian and European SUV rivals.
