Overview
Holden's locally designed and built Cruze hatch arrived in November 2011, fleshing out the company's bid to broaden its presence in the small-car sector. With sharp looks and increased practicality over the sedan, the five-door makes sense to families needing extra loading flexibility. Available in base CD, CDX, SRi and SRi-V trim, and with engines ranging from 104kW/176Nm 1.8-litre petrol through the new 103kW/200Nm 1.4-litre turbo petrol to the 120kW/360Nm 2.0-litre turbodiesel, the Cruze hatch covers a lot of ground with generous passenger space, decent equipment levels and neat road manners. Transmissions, depending on model, include five and six-speed manuals and a six-speed auto.
