Overview
In diesel form the ever-popular Forester gets a handy 6% improvement in fuel economy for 2012. Power delivery has also been improved with the 350Nm torque figure arriving at a lower 1600rpm continuing through to 2400rpm. The 108kW is the same as the previous version. These figures have been achieved via friction reduction, sharper exhaust cam timing and lower mass components, with reduced power requirements for the water pump and alternator. The manual transmission (no auto available) also receives a similar range of improvements. For the driver there's a new luminescent instrument cluster with updated warning lights and added features.
