HISTORY
I bought it in 2014 2nd hand from a dealer and used it as a parcel delivery van for AusPost for 10 years. AusPost were pretty strict on vehicles being reliable and roadworthy at all times so whenever a problem arose I immediately had it fixed. Due to the nature of the job i drove it every day for 8 hours a day and was starting the engine and opening the doors over 100 times a day. In 2000 i quit work to be a full time carer for my elderly parents and the car was only used once a month to go to bunnings and buy plants. My parents have recently passed and I have bought a campervan to go travelling for 5 years so I really want to sell it in the next couple of months so the price is negotiable,.
CONDITION
Mechanically the van is almost like new, it was regularly serviced every 2 weeks for 10 years and only a couple of hundred kilometers ago i spent almost $10 000 on it. I had the engine fully rebuilt, new shocks all round, new brakes, new tyres, new starter motor, new battery, new radiator, new rear struts, new ignition, new seat belt, new speedo cable, plus other various small items. The body took the brunt of neglect and so it has a few dents and 1 or two door seals will leak a little in heavy rain. The air conditioner is in as new condition, i always drove with the windows down and only used it when I needed to demist the windows, that said, I still ran the system once every month to keep all the seals lubricated. The main problem, (the only major one) is that the diff is starting to make noise, I took it to a specialist and he said its an early warning sign and it will need looking at in about 30 000kms. Its insured for $6k and car sales value it at $6k and it would be worth that without this problem so I have taken $2k off the price that i really wanted to allow for its repair. Also there is a tear in the drivers seat and a tear on the liner floor on drivers side, the passenger side is as new. Also there is a spare reconditioned proportioner valve, the original one leaked and a new replacement was $1000 so my mechanic put one on from the wreckers ($250) which is still working fine, and I got the original reconditioned for $250 as a spare.
ACCESSORIES
comes with a set of Rhino Racks, (not fitted), spare seat cover (Kings), new lndicator light assy, and a code reader that shows what the fault is if a warning light comes on and a cargo barrier that is easily removed.
ALSO
I couldn't get the Startrack stickers off, even with a heat gun, they had been on so long and in the hot sun that the glue was baked, the only way i could get them off was by chipping a tiny bit at a time which was impractical so I sprayed the whole van myself with tins of spray paint. Looks ok in the pictures and from a short distance but up close its only a mediocre job with overspray and runs. Due to a lot of use the body looked generally poor and I just wanted to make it presentable for the next owner. The paint probably wont last long before it starts to wear off and then the blue from the stickers will begin to reappear but its better than all the bare metal and stains that happened after a lot of wear. Also it prevent surface rust from forming which was happening,.
SUMMARY
I am proud of this van and have really enjoyed owning it, It would be a great buy for a tradesmen who wants performance over appearance.I have tried to be fullly transparant with everything good and bad about it and can provide a lot more information about minor details if you come to look at it. Because Blackalls Park is between Syndey and Newcastle I wanted to give as much detail as I could so I don't waste your time.
There are similar vans advertised that sellers are asking over $10 000 more, if someone spent 5 or 6K fixing it up properly it would possibly be worth $14000.
VEIWING
Because I live in the home and am packing up and cleaning out I am available 7 days a week and 24 hours a day so you can come and look at it anytime.
I'M HOPING 1ST TO SEE WILL BUY!
