On long trips as I have done in this vehicle, it is both safe and very economical getting a little as 3.7 ltr per 100 km. With it’s 4 cylinder turbo diesel engine it has the power when you need it for overtaking but it is still very economical. It’s a very well-designed vehicle ergonomically regarding entering and exiting. All round a great car

Presented in four-door hatch form here the newly introduced B BlueEFFICIENCY series rides and handles in the expected M-B manner. The 90/kW/200Nm 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol starts out the range in the B180, followed by a 11kkW/250Nm version of the same motor for the B200 and topped out with a 100kW/300Nm1.8-litre turbodiesel in the B200 CDI. All share the 7G-TRONIC seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, driving run flat tyres from the front. Drive selection is by steering wheel mounted stalk and paddles. Safety goes to another level, with all manner of assistance and equipment filtering down from its larger siblings.
