Overview
KIA's stylish third generation Sportage with its wide track, comparatively low roofline, hatch-like design, disguises a deceptively large vehicle which hits the spot with high standard equipment levels. These include six airbags, stability control, four-wheel antilock disc brakes, steering-wheel-mounted cruise controls, iPod-compatible six-disc audio, aircon, power mirrors/windows, keyless entry and mirror-mounted LED indicators. For the entry level Si wagon, motive force comes from a 2.0-litre petrol engine developing 122kW/197Nm and returning 8.7L/100km through a six-speed 'Sports Automatic' and front wheel drive. Also consider two-wheel-drive models in Hyundai's ix35, Mitsubishi's ASX, Mazda's CX-7 and Nissan's Dualis line-up.
