Joining the local ranks of the uber-luxury all terrain set, the Q7 completes a triumvirate with the genetically linked Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen's Touareg. They vie for top spot against the Mercedes ML/GL-Class and the BMW X5, and obviously each other. The Q7 goes to the head of the class in seven-speed 6.0DTT form for its 1000Nm of torque, while the other makes split hairs over outright power (368kW here), top speed and acceleration times. There are no losers here! The re-worked 3.0DT, 3.0S and 4.2DTT all get the 8-speed auto, contributing to better economy and reduced emissions.
