Overview
Basically owning the van and commuter bus segment for what seems forever, the Hiace is the envy of just about all other manufacturers. Powered by either a 111kW/241Nm, 11.1L/100km, 2.7-litre four cylinder petrol or a 100kW/300Nm, 8.0L/100km, 3.0-litre turbodiesel, running a five-speed manual or four-speed auto, drive is through the rear wheels. Model variants consist of a long wheelbase/super-long wheelbase van, or commuter bus. Safety features are twin front airbags, ABS, and the bus gets three-point seatbelts for all occupants. Van load spaces are 6.0 and 9.8 cubic metres. Bluetooth and MP3 capabilities keep it abreast of modern trends.
