With nearly 30 years of history under its belt, the Pajero still punches it out with the likes of Nissan's Pathfinder and Toyota's Prado. The limited edition Platinum, based on the GLX, offers no-cost extras, including reversing camera/sensors, high end audio, body coloured door handles and interior chrome trimming. There's the 147kW/441Nm 3.2-litre four-cylinder diesel which returns 9.2L/100km, or the 184kW/329Nm V6 petrol (13.5L/100km). Both can be optioned with either a five-speed manual or auto transmission. A rear diff lock is optional, range wide. Safety wise there's the full complement of airbags, ABS and stability/traction control, equalling four ANCAP stars.
