Mazda has been steadfast in its commitment to the rotary engine, and the RX series that culminates in today's RX-8 is the ultimate expression. The RX-8's Felix Wankel conceived Renesis twin-rotor engine gives the four-seat sports coupe with its rear-hinged back doors a unique personality. Some have likened the RX8's high-winding 177kW/211Nm soundtrack to a performance motorbike and that's a pretty accurate observation. The coupe is built very much around the driver and asks for some involvement before giving its best. The new GT variant goes further with Bilstein suspension, 19-inch alloys, body kit, Xenon headlights and Recaro seats above base specification.
