Overview
The short wheelbase hardtop 90 was re-introduced to Australia in 2009 with standard fitment of "luxuries" like air-conditioning, electric windows, rear wiper/washer, cloth seats, a cubby box with cupholders, folding rear step, mud flaps, headlight levelling and an immobilising alarm system. The fitment of the Ford Transit derived 2.4-litre 16-valve common-rail four-cylinder turbo-diesel and a new six-speed manual gearbox has served to keep the vehicle abreast of current performance/economy expectations. Looming on the horizon however are safety standards that the current bodies will never be able to comply with, even though there are the options of ABS and stability control.
