2011 Kia Rio SLi | 6-Speed Auto | 5-Door Hatchback | MY12
Top of the range. One family from new.
This isn't the base Rio. This is the SLi: Kia's flagship trim for the UB generation, bought new by my mother-in-law and kept in the family ever since. One owner, consistently serviced, and genuinely looked after.
Why the SLi matters:
The SLi is the variant most people don't know to look for. You get the full 1.6L GDi engine — 103kW and 167Nm — paired with a 6-speed sports automatic, not the sluggish 4-speed unit found in the base S models. The result is a car that's actually responsive in traffic and sits comfortably on the freeway without hunting for gears.
Factory fuel economy is 5.6L/100km. Real world is closer to 6.5, but that's still genuinely cheap to run day to day.
It also came with the full SLi equipment package, cruise control, fog lights, rear spoiler, 6 airbags, stability and traction control, hill-hold assist, and the factory 17-inch alloys which are still wearing decent Kumho rubber.
What's been upgraded:
I replaced the factory head unit with a Pioneer touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, no cable needed. Also added an automatic reversing camera. These aren't bolt-ons; they're installed cleanly and genuinely improve daily usability compared to stock.
What's been maintained:
Serviced every year without fail. At 210,000km these engines are well proven — the 1.6 GDi is known to go the distance when looked after, and this one has been. A mix of workshop and careful owner servicing throughout its life.
The honest part:
There is minor accident damage on the front, scraped bumper area near the headlight, with minor crack on the front right side. Photographed clearly so you can assess it yourself. I'm not going to pretend this car is perfect, because it isn't. There are the usual scratches and door dings you'd expect from a 14-year-old city car. Nothing structural, nothing that affects how it drives, but it's there and I've shot it all in detail.
