Honda was keen to add a five-door hatch to the Civic range right from the time of the current, eighth-generation sedan's launch in 2006. That became a reality in early 2009 when the British-built five-door Si iteration of the previously three-door only Civic hatch was introduced. The versatile hatch comes with the smaller 103kW/174Nm 1.8-litre Civic engine driving the front wheels through manual six-speed or auto five-speed transmission and returning 6.9l/100km and 7.2l/100km. Standard gear includes stability and traction control, six airbags, 17-inch alloys, cruise control, trip computer, and six-speaker audio.
