We are selling our very loved BMW X5 as we require a 7 seater vehicle. If we didn't need to buy a bigger car we would have kept this car for a lot longer given the money we have spent to maintain the vehicle to a very high standard and addressed all wear and tear items.
We are the second owners of this beautiful car! We bought this car in 2020 (w.110k kms) because it was serviced very well by the first owner with oil change intervals between 10-13k kms rather than the ridiculous BMW "recommended" intervals of 2 years/30,000kms. In our ownership the engine oil has been changed approximately every 5,000kms with engine oil sample sent to the lab for testing like a blood test for the car. We have also serviced the ZF gearbox 3 times in our ownership along with transfer case fluid annually and front and rear diff oils.
We have also replaced many items to keep the car running like new.
Key components replaced:
- TIMING CHAIN has been replaced as a preventative measure. Those who have done their research have read the horror stories of broken timing chains on these engines if it isn't addressed
- Rocker cover gasket
- Oil filter housing gasket
- New intake manifold
- Shock absorbers all round
- Brake rotors and brake pads
- Drive shaft changed as a preventative maintenance item
- Harmonic balancer
- Drive belts and idler pulley
- Control arms, engine mounts, ball joints and sway bar links
- CV joints
- Windscreen cowling mid-section updated with revised BMW part to avoid any water getting into the engine bay
A key upgrade we have made is the installation of a 14.9inch XTRONS screen which works beautifully with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. This brings to car up to date with technology and this screen works smoother than most new cars' factory screens.
The fuel economy is fantastic on this car. We drive to Melbourne on one tank on fuel and arrive with 150-200km of range remaining. We only use Shell V Power diesel and run diesel additives often to keep the injectors and fuel system clean.
