The Maxi van-based Caddy Maxi Life came to Australia in 2008 as a competitor in the seven-seat MPV segment. Offered with just one powerplant VW's 1.9-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel with 77kW and 250Nm of torque and the choice of six-speed manual or twin-clutch DSG transmission, the front-drive Maxi Life offers good space for seven passengers and is more refined than the Maxi van. The VW MPV gets dual front and side airbags. Alloy wheels, power front windows semi-auto air-conditioning and a six-speaker CD audio are standard, while stability control and rear parking sensors are listed as optional.
