It has since become perhaps our most iconic small car and has managed on occasions to become the country's best-seller. The latest Corolla continues the tradition since it went front-drive in 1985 unburstable, unassuming and, it seems, unassailable. With 1.8 litres and 100kW all Corollas are quick off the mark and competitively equipped with ESP now available, ABS, dual airbags, air-conditioning and a basic trip computer standard across the board. Transmissions include a six-speed manual or a four-speed auto. (auto at extra cost).
