Overview
Today's Nissan Patrol is unrecognisable from the two-door soft-top, three-speed model that plied the outback in the 1970s. But, despite today's sophistication, the big Nissan has always remained true to the belief that 4WDs should always be able to go bush. Now, the Patrol is sold mainly as a seven-seat wagon, although a base DX model, and cab-chassis variants, exist. There are two engines; a 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel with 118kW and 380Nm, and a 4.8-litre inline six with 180kW and 400Nm. Equipment includes dual airbags and, from ST up, limited-slip differential, 17-inch alloys, cruise control, air-conditioning and four-speaker CD audio.
